Come be a key player in production for the Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra - a performing arts standard in the state of Alaska or over 60 years. We are looking for a talented individual for a part time position (evenings and weekend afternoons) to manage concert and video production. This position will work closely with the Managing Director to ensure that FSO Concerts are of the highest quality for our community and for those around the world who view our concerts on demand. This position oversees stage crew and works closely with the C.W. Davis Concert Hall Manager and contracted lighting design agents to ensure rehearsals and production goes smoothly.
Here is a breakdown of what is required:
1. Rehearsals - Tuesday evenings from 5:30 - ?
Coordinate with Music Director for each upcoming performance on how the stage should be set: keeping in mind that risers are usually appropriate for filming for sections in the back
Coordinate Stage Crew for set up/tear down
Coordinate with Davis Concert Hall Manager to locate items such as stands/chairs/risers if needed.
Attendance for the entirety of the rehearsal is not required for this position. This position would be sure to coordinate crew for tear down each Tuesday evening. As performances get closer, staying for the entirety of the rehearsal will be advisable. 5:30pm to 9:30pm.
2. Hell Week (a loving reference to the week of the performance)
Camera Placement / Coordination with Davis Concert Hall staff for load in times / Coordination with lighting agent for lighting (most of this completed during rehearsals)
Hell week requires attendance at Tuesday rehearsal, Friday Rehearsal, Saturday Rehearsal, and Sunday Performance. A total of about 13-16 hours.
3. Concerts
Supervising stage set up
Video recording / Camera Operation
Stage Tear Down
Approximately 5 hours of administration per month to coordinate crew and to hold production meetings with Managing Director and Music Director. 8 hours per month for rehearsals excluding hell week.
Total monthly estimated hours: Up to 35 per month for a single performance in a single month.
The FSO season runs from August to April. Summers off!
